NFL Week 3 Odds, Spreads, and Moneylines (2024)

  • Will Drake Maye already be under center when the Pats play the Jets in Week 3?
  • Did the sportsbooks get it wrong with Eagles as three-point favorites?
  • Ravens vs Cowboys should show us who both teams are early in the year

We’ve got some fun matchups for Week 3 of the NFL season. And the NFL’s Week 3 odds reflect that.

One game that sticks out is Drake Maye’s Patriots against the Jets, for his first divisional game in the NFL. With Jayden Daniels and Caleb Williams getting drafted ahead of him, the Pats were kind of forced to take Maye in the draft. This game will be his first big test against an elite defense. If he shows out, maybe the Jets are in for another decade of incredible Patriots QB play?

But, the big headlining game in this one for me is Dallas vs Baltimore. These are both teams that are going to need to win tight games, and the bookmakers see this contest being exactly that.

Check out my breakdown of those games and more for the NFL Week 3 odds.

NFL Week 3 opening odds

Updated odds for the NFL’s Week 3 games won’t be released until after the Sunday Night game ends in Week 2. Check back ahead of the Week 3 slate for locked in lines for this week’s games.

Below, we’ve got preseason odds from DraftKings for the Week 3 matchups.

NFL Week 3 betting lines

New England Patriots (+7.5) @ New York Jets (-7.5)

We’ve got Drake Maye’s first taste of the AFC East in this one… and hopefully Aaron Rodgers is still healthy by Week 3. It’ll be a tough day for Maye, though, as he faces 2023’s best passing defense in the Jets. I’d probably lean the under on his passing yards prop.

Los Angeles Chargers (+2) @ Pittsburgh Steelers (-2)

I’m pretty low on both the Chargers and the Steelers’ offenses entering the 2024 season, so my early lean for this one is the under. It helps that the Steelers allowed just 19.7 points per game last year, good for eighth-fewest in the NFL.

New York Giants (+6.5) @ Cleveland Browns (-6.5)

There are few teams I’m lower on that the Giants heading into 2024, so I don’t hate an early bet on the Browns at this spread. Cleveland actually finishes last season with four-straight wins and won by more than two touchdowns in their final two contests, so a 6.5-point spread isn’t too daunting.

Philadelphia Eagles (-3) @ New Orleans Saints (+3)

At first glance, the Eagles being just three-point favorites to the Saints seems like an unwise line, especially considering Philly’s overhaul in the offseason. But, this is a Saints team that shocked the Eagles a few years ago with a 20-10 victory.

Green Bay Packers (-3.5) @ Tennessee Titans (+3.5)

I could see the Titans being the worst team in the NFL this year. They had the 27th-ranked scoring offense last season and 15th in scoring defense, then didn’t add much of significance in the summer. Give me Jordan Love’s Packers in this one before the line starts to move.

Houston Texans (-3.5) @ Minnesota Vikings (+3.5)

I don’t have high hopes for Minnesota after losing Kirk Cousins and Danielle Hunter in the offseason. Even the potential of JJ McCarthy isn’t getting me that hyped. On the other side of this one, the Texans were one of 2023’s most fun squads. Even if the line doesn’t suggest it, I could see a Houston blowout here.

Chicago Bears (+2) vs Indianapolis Colts (-2)

This has a chance to be a real party for Caleb Williams fans. His Bears start the season off with games against Houston and Tennessee, neither of which boasted great defenses in 2023. So, there could be big hype for him coming into a game against a Colts defense that also ranked bottom-five in scoring defense last year. I’d take the over on Williams passing touchdowns in this one. Believe the hype.

Denver Broncos (+3.5) vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-3.5)

I’m not sure many eyeballs are going to be on this Tampa vs Denver game in Week 3, but there’s some good value in this line. I don’t think the Broncos are going to be very good, and 3.5-points is easy to cover. The Bucs were also one of the NFL’s best spread teams last year, covering at a 63.2% clip.

Miami Dolphins (-2) @ Seattle Seahawks (+2)

I love the Dolphins in this matchup, because Tua cooks against the NFC. In five games against NFC teams last year, Tua posted a 4-1 record, 70% completion rate, and nine touchdowns to just three interceptions.

Carolina Panthers (+4) @ Las Vegas Raiders (-4)

Two of the NFL’s least inspiring teams meet up in this one for Week 3. At this point in the season, we should have a good idea if the Panthers are going to be picking in the top-five again (I think so). So that’s probably the most interesting storyline to watch here.

Baltimore Ravens (+1) @ Dallas Cowboys (-1)

This is the most fun game on the slate, in my opinion. But I don’t think it’ll be an easy day for Baltimore’s Lamar Jackson. Despite playing in a division with Jalen Hurts and a scampering Daniel Jones, the Cowboys allowed only four rushing touchdowns to opposing QBs last year.

San Francisco 49ers (-2.5) @ Los Angeles Rams (+2.5)

The 49ers and Rams met twice last year, and both were one-score games. Brock Purdy played in just one of the two meetings, but it’s worth noting that the Los Angeles defense held him to just 17/25 passing for 206 yards and no touchdowns. That was one of his worst passing days of the season last year, so I’d take his unders in this one, too.

Detroit Lions (-4) @ Arizona Cardinals (+4)

For a second season in a row, the Lions were one of the NFL’s best spread teams last year. They’ve covered in 26 of 37 games (including playoffs) over the last two seasons. Maybe the books will adjust this year, but until that’s clear I’m taking Detroit spreads all day.

Kansas City Chiefs (-3) @ Atlanta Falcons (+3)

The Falcons may have the easiest schedule in the NFL based off 2023 win rates, but it doesn’t start early. The Falcons’ easy schedule begins with games against Pittsburgh, Philly, and Kansas City, so a loss here could dig them into an early hole.

Jacksonville Jaguars (+4.5) @ Buffalo Bills (-4.5)

The Jaguars have kind of owned the Bills in recent years, beating them in three of the last four meetings. Buffalo has been held to single-digit points in two of those games, as well. I’d take the Jags in an outright upset here.

Washington Commanders (+7) @ Cincinnati Bengals (-7)

It will be interesting to see how the Bengals handle dynamic QB Jayden Daniels in this one, as they haven’t been great against mobile QBs. Last year, Cincinnati allowed the fifth-most rushing yards to opposing quarterbacks, so I’d take Daniels rushing over in this contest.

NFL Week 3 picks and predictions

I’m loving the road favorites for Week 3 right now, especially given how close these early lines are. But, my favorite bet on the slate is the Lions to cover against the Cardinals. As I mentioned above, the Lions were great against the spread last year and they also beat up on bad teams. Detroit beat all of Denver, Vegas, Atlanta, and Carolina all by at least 12 points last season. That’s bad news for a Cardinals team that should be in the league’s bottom tier once again.

I also love the Texans to cover, just because I’m so low on the Vikings. I’m really not sure where the offense is going to come from with either Sam Darnold or JJ McCarthy at QB. You’ll need to score points to keep up with the Texans, and I don’t think Minnesota is capable.

Here are my best bets for NFL Week 3 odds:

  • Eagles -3 @ Saints
  • Lions -4 @ Cardinals
  • Texans -3.5 @ Vikings
