The only reason I’m still considering keeping my preorder is the sub 1k prices

At the retail price I don’t think these laptop would be worth it

At least not for me I would buy a MacBook at those retail price even then I’m not sure if I will not cancel and pay more for an macbook

Very true, hence the purchase from BB so I can check it out to see how Snapdragon performs and maybe consider it later on during a sale (or keep it if I was blown away). At least now I know it's viable for sure.
Samsung had no stock when I decided on 14" instead of 16" and I realized I didn't like the non-existent return policy and didn't want to take the risk (despite the awesome price).
Anyhow, I'm pretty excited with this laptop after having it for a day. Still thinking of ordering the samsung now that I know I have nothing to worry about.... except the damned keyboard, ugh.

Anyhow, there's no SDE. I'm extremely pleased with this panel. 600 Nits SDR, 1000 HDR... it's real. Dunno how Lenovo did it, but congrats to them.

FWIW, I set this thing to stream 4K HDR Dolby Vision youtube at 90% brightness 90hz for 1 hour (nature/animal shots so screen fully used), and it only dropped 12% and it's barely warm. (estimate 8.3 hours in these extreme conditions)
All that in a super hot bedroom that faces west with the door closed (forgot to open when I left for work this morning). The room is a sauna and this thing handled it with ease.
I'm so impressed how good this thing performs. Been testing it since I got it yesterday, and it's only down to 60% battery with all that. The full white screen uses the most battery (this website, lol) but who cares, it can handle it.
I can't imagine where we will be 1-2 years from now, with AMD and Intel having to come up with their own processors to counter.

Thanks for the feedback.

I'm so sick of Samsung and the runaround I've gotten over this laptop order, I've now got a loaded Lenovo 7x coming.

I'm sure I'll like it, as I loved the 13x aside from the display (which isn't even bad I just wanted OLED). This one should tick all the boxes, and I get 32GB ram which I wanted anyways. Not to mention 30 days no hassle returns if it doesn't.

My displeasure with Samsung is running at an all-time high. I just picked up a pixel fold to replace my fold 5, and I'm convincing my wife to get an iphone this year instead of her bi-yearly galaxy s ultra upgrade.

Everything seems so hit or miss.
Most people got their stuff flawlessly, no issue, no problem and their laptops are performing well within what's expected out of those specs. They even got it over 2.5 weeks early.
Then you have this pocket of people getting trash battery life (their fault?), hot laptops (I couldn't even get my fans to spin or heat up other than when I blasted a 4k youtube vid at max brightness while running AV scan and it was MUCH more tolerable than the other laptops I've had before)
You also have this pocket of early orders who got the web order special where they got a bunch of issues with the ordering process (My last lenovo order got pushed back by like 4 months).

This is my 6th Samsung online order, never had an issue(they all came weeks earlier than expected date). My only "gripe" is the return policy, but it's expected if the order is performing as it should.
First Samsung PC tho, and I gotta say, they're pretty on par with everyone else in terms of bloatware, which is kinda terrible lol.

Thing is, the 7x and this laptop should perform pretty much the same unless you got the 32gb ram version (and for most people, that doesn't matter).
The same specs come out to 1600$+tax, so 1840$, vs as low as 750$+tax, so 860$, and that's if you don't sell the monitor for more than it's worth.

An extra 1000$ for a similar laptop just isn't cutting it.
There's no real advantage other than a more standard keyboard (which, quite frankly, after 3 days and remapping the à key that is next to the enter key I'm 100% fine with).
This is the kind of price gap (even worse) that you'd normally see between a cheap ass laptop (think Ideapad) vs the better quality models (think Thinkpad/Yoga).

Sure, if you don't mind the cost, it's fine. Yoga 7x is a great line of laptop overall.
I'd argue that anyone willing to pay close to 2000$ (which is retail price anyways) should either wait for early sales or a more stable experience regarding drivers and overall windows performance. Unless you needed a new laptop ASAP.

I agree with all your points, and yes I know the performance is going to be equal aside from the 7x having 32GB ram and upgradable storage (which with the 14" being limited to 512GB is a factor).

My issues with Samsung go way past this order fiasco, and are directly targeted at their customer service and support. I'm acting as a liaison for a family member trying to get a fold repaired/replaced through warranty and they are basically running an extortion game. I won't get into it, but it's bad enough that I'm done spending any of my $ with them, even if it's a better value.

The fold 6 looks to be a joke of an upgrade this year, too.

For me here, the best I could do after they cancelled my order was the 14" for $951 plus tax, and it was going to ship in a month. I also needed to acquire a junker trade in and hope it wasn't clawed back.

I wrangled a 7x with 32GB/1tb for ~ $1350 plus tax (includes Rakuten cash back which has come through already, and a few one time use codes I had).

$400 for what amounts to double ram, double storage, better battery and equal performance isn't great on paper. But the ability to return it if I want, and to not give anything to Samsung is well worth it for me at least.

I genuinely hope everyone here enjoys their laptops and gets great use out of them. I also hope nobody needs to get any warranty work on them.

Samsung Canada's CS is trash, straight up. 100% agreed on that. That being said, their big competitors are just as trash. Best way to get a Samsung device is through third parties with warranties (like costco or bestbuy).
Unless you have Samsung Care stuff, you're pretty much getting dinged. Sorry you have to go through that sh*t.

It's been a while since any of the phone upgrades were worth it other than longer update support or "hardware refresh". Since S20, they kept the same 8gb RAM, 128/256gb low ass base model which forces you to lock in a much more expensive model. It's the main reason why I stopped upgrading too, other than a better camera, there's minimal gains to be had.

In your case (950, no trade-in) and the 7x for 1350, it's a no brainer.
I'm curious how/what discounts you managed to get to drop it that low, cause even tho that's double the cost of my Edge, I would've considered it lol.

I can't really complain this time around.

Order date : 30 May 2024
Galaxy Book4 Edge 14 $849.73
34" ViewFinity S6 S65TC Ultra-WQHD Hi-Res Monitor with Thunderbolt™ 4 and HDR10 $311.02 (was originally $999 or $899)

With:
10% off Bundle has been applied! Promotion was applied to this order.
$250 cart discount applied. Promotion was applied to this order.
$425 trade in ($400 promotional trade in + $25 for an old HP Stream 14" with an Intel N4000, 4GB ram and 64GB EMC)
I brought it to $1,160.75 from $2,850 ($1,689.23).

I got the monitor the 1st week of June and the laptop on the 19th.
I also contacted CSR to ask them if I could add the Student Beans discount (5%) after the order was done (and the monitor shipped). They escalated and today I got $65 from Samsung.

Now just crosing my fingers that they don't complain about anything with my trade in (at most, I may lose $25)

I cannot find any other 16inch OLED laptop with even intel chip and RTX40XX as powerful as Snapdragon X Elite 80 chip with 16GB RAM/512Gb SSD at a price of $828+tax=$935 with a Free Galaxy Buds 2 Pro which atleast have a $120 value ( after trading in a 12yr old intel beater laptop for $400)

16inch OLED display is beautiful [Samsung] Galaxy Book4 Edge (2.8K AMOLED) w/ SnapD X Elite @ $948 - $1033: Codes + Student + App discount (no trade in required) - Page 78 - RedFlagDeals.com Forums (4)

Apple charge insane prices for there 16inch miniLED display in MCBPro

the keyboard is manageable as we are saving a $1000bucks straight compared to market
