Curious if your rescued results can be run through the grinder yet again for even more rescuation?
I second both sentiments.
It's sounding amazing, and I think sounds pretty much how I think it wold have sounded then. Perhaps even better, dependant upon where in the room you were sitting, what with crappy speakers, and general boominess in the room the further you got from the stage. The way things are going, there could be enough stems to do a convincing surround mix, with the muck peeled away pushed to the rear speakers with the chat of patrons, or some Giles Martin trickery with reverb pushed out to the sides. That would really make you feel like you're there (though I don't have a surround setup to enjoy it myself).
I think the Lord has gotten to the stage where the quest for restoration has been practically completed, and the question of remixing or mastering comes back in - i.e. personal taste.
For instance, the lead vocals often sound a bit boxy due to the proximity effect on the mic. Previously it wasn't so clear, as the voice was lost in the tape, but now it's quite noticeable. The backing vocals sound much more natural. On the one hand, part of me itches to hear that boxiness eq'd out. On the other hand, that's what you would have heard there on the night - Paul, John or George leaning in and giving their all through a crappy mic on stage.
Yes the big drawback is that the voices are coming through a very early-60s sounding PA system, the kind they used in bingo halls. Sounds like a column of maybe three or four 10 inch speakers on each side, with no frequencies below 200hz or above about 7 or 8khz. Also the mics they're using are extremely directional so any veering away from the mic results in huge sound dropouts (fortunately however I was able to fix the worst of this having access to the isolated vocals). But what I've presented here is pretty much what you would have heard sitting near the front. The surround effect is an interesting idea, in that I could just put a stereo imitation of the reverb I stripped out into the rear speakers. Since the reverb was coming from the back of the room, that would tend to replicate what it was like to be there? But it'd need some other trickery to complete the illusion.
The Beatles and my buddy Ted Taylor [King Size Taylor} photo before but yea House system PA and same mic's by the man in Big Three
If you find the Star Club RAW 3 CDs set and heard King-size Ted Taylor set with Tony Sheridan it sound great and cool you hear them say its few mins after 1am and they sing Do You Love Me and sounds AMAZING
ALSO odd seeing them differ location on stage....

Interesting pics. Same Premiere drum kit too.
There's a big speaker cabinet behind Paul. What is that? Is that his bass amp?
It was also very unusual to have these sorts of mic stands. Right through their touring years they had those horrible column microphone stands. Bloody awful awkward things if you have a guitar slung around your neck. They must have been very happy to be using such kit, especially during the first Star Club stint when they had never used anything but their puny little pre-Vox amps. Those Fender amps are thunderous.

Almost looks like Paul’s coffin bass cabinet. Not as busted up though. The Fender amps combined with the tape saturation make their instruments sound pretty modern to my ears. Doesn’t have that flat-wound-string-through-30-watt-Vox to my ears at all.
It is amazing what has emerged from this last cleanup. The boxiness is definitely more noticeable but so are their vocal textures and huskiness from all the singing they were doing. Don’t know how they kept their voices in a smoky club, while THEY were smoking and drinking. Hearing these recordings, in this fashion, is scratching a decades old itch!

Look at the size of the bass amp, and how tall it is, and then look at the picture of Ted he was a tall man
If you look colour photo then others you see what it would it been like there
One last things I was talking Ted about before pas away (January 2nd) is just this asking was this setup always he told me as far he recalls they always had Fender amp at Star Club as house amps something about they best sound for size place he told me that with it being in an old theatre and being open space something about the sound of the fenders made it sound right if that makes any sense to you guys I wish Ted was still here
His birthday was on 12th
Also wasn’t your set or was it another person there footage inside Star Club ?
